Manel and Céu…
… are in the heart of Serra da Estrela and this is where they bake their rye bread in a wood oven, make cookies and grow infusions and various herbs and vegetables. All their products have the characteristic of Vim do Monte, which goes through the production and preparation of its products with great care and affection.
Vim do Monte…
… intends to value local products and boost a mountain village, always taking into account the importance of the company’s economic, environmental, food and cultural sustainability.
In addition to the production and commercialization of food products directly to the consumer, through home deliveries or artisanal fairs, they promote, by appointment, workshops on cooking rye bread in a wood oven.
The family project…
… was born after Manel, the father of the family, got unemployed. Resilient and “without lowering his arms”, he learned the art of baking bread with mother Céu and planting and harvesting infusions.
The brand is advertised on social media and on the website by their two daughters, Andreia and Catarina, who, when necessary, also help at craft fairs.
Vim do Monte bases its business on sustainable principles…
… because they intend to contribute to the maintenance of local traditions and culture, stimulating the local economy. They bake traditional rye bread, characteristic of the village where they are found, with only 3 ingredients (flour, water and mother dough) and they make biscuits based on homemade eggs and olive oil from the region, just as their ancestors did.
They are integrated in the Mountain Villages, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park and in the Unesco Geopark Estrela. They promote a healthier diet and their products are considered GeoFood, that is, they are local products and have food, territorial, health, sustainability and flavor concerns.
Vim do Monte consists of a short supply chain business and works with biodegradable or recyclable materials, allowing their ecological footprint to be reduced.
