Emanuel founded the Reciclagem Orgânica (Organic Recycling) project in order to make society aware of the importance of composting. In addition to social education, they simplify communities’ access to the compost.
The compost is used as soil fertilizer, improving its microbiota, making them safer, rich in nutrients for plants and healthy. Consequently, the food from these soils is also safe, nutritious and healthy.

Reciclagem Orgânica …
… is a project whose main objective is to make ordinary citizens more aware of the composting process, while aiming to simplify the way that everyone can access the compost.
… is a process that allows the management of organic waste and, the it can be used in detriment of synthetic fertilizers in the soils, making them richer and healthier. The compost nourishes the soil, helps to prevent its erosion and the loss of nutrients and microorganisms important for plant health.
When organic waste is transformed into compost, this kind of waste won’t go to the landfill, and so water and soil pollution is avoided as so the release of high amounts of greenhouse gases.
Emanuel Silva Figueiredo…
… has a degree in Aquatic Sciences and founded in 2018 the Reciclagem Orgânica project. Sónia Magalhães is with him since the beginning and she is the responsible for the communication part of the project and for agricultural design.
Now the project has added three more acquisitions: Pierre Del Cos, founder of the Association “Revolução das Minhocas”, Helena Silva Figueiredo responsible for the project communication and Júlio Sá who is responsible for the most bureaucratic aspects and digital design.
Reciclagem Orgânica is a project that is concerned with food sustainability,…
… because the composting process is essential for an entire ecosystem. The use of the final compost as fertilizer allows important chemical reactions in the soil to occur between microorganisms and plants and facilitates the exchange of nutrients that occur at the level of roots in plants. The soil undergoes a restructuring process and is able to retain water and nutrients more easily, preventing its erosion and desertification.
It is never too much to remember that healthy soils are equivalent to healthy foods. Avoiding the use of synthetic fertilizers and taking care of our soils, it is essential to have safer and healthier food, free of heavy metals and synthetic fertilizers.
